From the Castle we headed to Schwetzingen Palace with our Go Ahead tour group. This was the summer palace for the Electors Palantine. We were not allowed to take photos inside the Palace but had full roam of the gardens. Once you take the tour of the inside you suddenly understand why the gardens were so lush and beautiful...it's too hot to stay inside! We were there on a very warm day and it was very hot and humid in the many small rooms inside. The only photographs I wish I could have taken inside were of the ornate porcelain chandeliers...they alone make the inside tour worth it! (click on the photo to see the full size version)
As soon as you exit the building you see this beautiful golden lady. She was particularly bright at our visit because she had just been re-plated with gold.
This is one of a set of twin buildings that set out side to side from the main building.
The main lawns. Like most fountains we found in this region, it looks so beautiful from a distance and then you realize how really violent it is when you get up close!
Little details were everywhere like this turquoise door with it's bird and golden plumes.
We ended our day having ices on the banks of the Neckor River. This lovely shady view was from our table.

From here we were off to the Black Forest and then onto Luzern Switzerland! Hope you can join us back here on Thursday!
